CHATSWOOD RESIDENCE: PROGRESS REPORT
I have jumped the gun to take pictures of this project as there are still a few things to be completed on this living room refresh. However, I was excited to share pictures of this update sooner rather than later. (Will be updating once the renovations are complete... and when the sunshine comes back. It's dark and cold here in Sydney mid-winter!)
The client brief was to redo this former lounge/dining to make the space usable. With unloved furniture, and a space for storing items for renovations in other parts of the house, it was time for this living room to come into its own! With children and pets, the furniture had to be stylish, yet practical. We settled immediately on tan leather furniture, and developed the palette from there. Light coloured rugs were used to brighten the space. A former dining space was re-purposed as a reading nook. A pendant light was installed to create visual interest from all angles: from when you walk in the front door, to viewing down on it from the landing above. While you may wonder about white furniture for children and pets: the chair is slip-covered and the covers pop off for easy washing. Again, we went for a light shade to brighten the area. The client is enjoying the clutter-free look, but if she wants to add to the design down the road, she can use the concept as a guide when making future purchases with confidence!
