POTS AND PLANTS
You have found a shiny, new, Fiddle Leaf Fig / Bird of Paradise / Monstera Deliciosa to bring life to your interior space. Only problem is, it comes in one of those unattractive black pots from the nursery! Fortunately, there is now a range of pots available to house your new baby. Some personal favourites are the painted pots from Melbourne company, Pop and Scott, and Sydney store, Design Twins. Newly discovered this week is the Watercolour pot from Domus Botanica, a company in Alexandria, which also delivers garden delights to your door. The Pot Warehouse in Mona Vale has a nice edit of pots and plants including modern, Balinese, and rustic.
As for caring for plants, I am no gardener, but so far I have managed to keep my indoor plants alive! The trick seems to water once a week; pick a day and make that your watering day. For plants like a fiddle leaf fig, I extend it to once every two weeks in the winter, as they do not like their roots sitting in water. I have recently started fertilising with a water-soluable fertiliser. It recommends every two weeks, so I have made a mental note to fertilise on the 15th and 30th of the month. Another trick is to add the water fertiliser to a spray bottle, and spray the leaves in the shower stall.
