A different path into interior design

Donna's career didn't begin in interior design.

Before establishing Donna Vercoe Design, she spent years producing technical drawings within engineering environments before moving into swimming pool design, where she worked closely with architects, builders and regulatory authorities.

Working in technical disciplines developed an appreciation for clear documentation, coordination and thoughtful planning. It also reinforced an understanding that good design isn't simply about aesthetics—it's about solving problems before they become expensive, time-consuming issues during construction.

Growing up as the daughter of a builder further shaped this perspective. Seeing projects come together from an early age instilled a respect for practical thinking, collaboration and the value of making informed decisions before work begins.

Today, that experience continues to influence every project.

Designing with clarity

Many clients engage Donna in the early stages of a renovation, when ideas are still forming and important decisions haven't yet been resolved.

Rather than rushing into finishes or furniture selections, she works alongside clients to refine layouts, develop joinery, select materials and establish a clear design direction that responds to both the way they live and the realities of construction.

The result is a coordinated design that allows builders and trades to price accurately, reduces unnecessary changes during construction, and gives clients confidence that the project is moving in the right direction.

Beyond the studio

Outside the studio, Donna enjoys photography, baking and sewing, creative pursuits that reward observation, patience and attention to detail.

She is also an active committee member at her local community garden, where she manages the newsletter and social media, bringing the same thoughtful, organised approach to community projects as she does to her design work.

She believes the most successful interiors aren't simply beautiful—they are practical, considered and designed to support the people who use them every day.
