Design Notes

This children’s bedroom project in Turramurra marked the transition from a cot to a first full-sized bed. The brief was to create a room that suited this next stage while retaining the softness and playfulness of early childhood.

I developed a woodland-inspired scheme with a gentle palette of pinks and blues, selecting an off-the-shelf bed, bookcase and bedside table alongside coordinated bedding. Furniture was chosen to remain useful beyond the toddler years. I also applied the decorative wall details myself, bringing the woodland concept into the room.

The result is a welcoming bedroom that balances childhood charm with practical furniture, allowing bedding and accessories to change as the child’s interests develop.

A cozy child's bedroom with a pink canopy over the bed, a white nightstand, a window with greenery outside, colorful pennant banners, a white bookshelf with toys and books, a small chair, a blue round cushion, and a framed picture of a rabbit on the wall.
A children's room with a polka-dot decorated wall, a window, a white bookshelf with toys and books, a wicker chair, a round blue cushion, and hanging triangle bunting decorations.
A cozy bedroom corner featuring a bed with light-colored floral bedding, a round green cushion, a pink canopy, a white nightstand, a gold desk lamp, and a small white rabbit figurine, next to a window with green foliage outside.
Decorated wall with black polka dots, a string of triangular fabric flags hanging, a plush doll with orange hair and closed eyes sitting on a light wooden shelf, with a stack of books and toy tea set on the shelf.
