Design Notes

This project began with a familiar challenge: a growing child with more belongings than the bedroom could comfortably contain. The brief was to create a space that felt calmer and more organised, without losing its sense of warmth or becoming overly rigid.

Storage was the primary driver of the design. Custom joinery was developed to address specific needs, paired with more affordable, adaptable IKEA pieces that allow the room to evolve over time. Thoughtful planning ensures toys, books, and everyday items are easy to access and neatly contained, while a restrained palette and simple forms help the space feel balanced, flexible, and designed to grow alongside the child.
